Stewart is the best-selling author of the books, You Don’t Have to Rehearse to be Yourself and The Owner’s Manual For Your Life. He has been featured on television and radio talk shows (including co-hosting a human sexuality TV talk show in Los Angeles in the mid-70s). Tens of thousands of people have attended his workshops, seminars, and speaking engagements around the globe. He studied economics, philosophy and psychology at the University of Sydney before pursuing a career in the advertising arts. He served as a creative director for J. Walter Thompson’s Sydney office and taught design at the University of New South Wales. He moved to the United States in 1971 and in the late 70’s was selected by the national media as one of the ten most influential people in the Human Potential Movement. To support senior executives in leading the spirit of their enterprises and maximizing the talent of their people, Joan and Stewart Emery established Belvedere Consultants in 1988. Stewart is a regular guest presenter for KPBS San Diego and the SDSU International Training Center. Stewart is a faculty member of San Diego Global University and JFK University. For the past twenty-five years she has organized and facilitated training sessions and workshops on topics ranging from personal development to organizational change, leadership and management. Joan holds a B.A. in English Literature, French, and History and speaks French and Italian. She continues with advanced studies in personal growth and professional development with emphasis on the links between temperament, talent and performance. Her diverse career includes five years in film production and five years as president of her own public relations business before focusing her abilities in the field of her passion: people; their success and their well-being. She has a talent for coaching people to achieve success and satisfaction in their professional and personal lives. In the past seven years she has devoted herself full time to corporate work. Current and recent work includes projects at Cadence Design Systems, KQED, MasterCard International and New Media Partners. Joan lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband Stewart.
